Just restoring a centre console & trying to work out what the right screws / washers go on it from the factory.

Does anyone have an unmolested one to advise?

I seem to think domed, chrome , countersunk posi heads are the right ones with cup washers to match?

Hi
When I did mine I got chromed domed counter sunk head self tappers from UK but choose washers from a Sydney supplier as they were stamped with a curve to a flat face and therefore didn’t cut into the the Vinyl.

Thanks Bruce - what size are your screws ?

2 seems to be a number I remember.
Is it Brisco in UK that does the screws.
The washers are a no brainer if you want no assembly damage

Hi
Yes I think there was two sizes.I got some of both.
I also got stainless countersunk flat heads for out of sight fixings.

You’re working towards achieving my standards.
Are you replacing the vinyl
Use non stretch original material.
I will send a pic of cup washer when I am back home
It’s non standard but satisfying to know you are not ruining the vinyl.
Let me know when you are fitting the grill,I had a process for that as well

:D Not replacing the vinyl Bruce just the trims - the Mk1 OC now do some excellent new ally bits for the lid & rear ash tray surround - exact copies of originals.

Hi Bruce & Keith.
I’ve found today from a NZ supplier( bolt & nut shop) the cup washers with the flat base you were talking of Bruce.
I’ve run them over the polishing mop and tho they are stst you’d be pretty good to pick it

Hi Neil
Today I posted off to Keith Halstead the sample you sent to me of the cup washers you used on your console fixing along with the sample of the one I used
I have decided it is a New Zealand,s got Talent Contest of the restorers.
And Simon Cowles aka Keith Halstead is the judge. Both fancy themselves as handsome hunks 🕺

Well having met neither of you, or your hot young things, I have no comment..... except to say Bruce, its no contest.
