Mk1 lotus cortina 165 FOO, made in 1963, the car was track tested at Brands Hatch in 1963, also used to promote the special equipment car in 1964.
The car took part in an endurance rally in 1964 and was driven by Tony Brooks, 164 FOO was driven by Jim Clark, 166 FOO driven by Graham Arnold Lotus. 3 cars were built in the series for the rally from London to Edinburgh (return).
The car was previously owned by a Ford director, was sold of by Clark and Simpson, who sold a lot of Ford cars at this time.
David Sutton racing, the owner obtained it from an employee, the current owner has owned several works cars, 778BOO, KPU386c, KPU388c, KPU391c, KPU395c, KPU397c.
The car has green log book details current V5, has an alloy bonnet, boot and doors, wood rim steering wheel.
A famous car, it is fitted with a bias break system, believed to be a trial car for escorts in 1967, see the girling resovoirs, looks like it's from war of the worlds.
The car still has a David Sutton racing sticker in rear window, on leaf springs, not an A bracket. Original seats.
