A Bit bit early a little bit late............ WRG 223A

Presumably the "Ermine Green" stripes set off the "Sherwood White" paintwork!
In over 40 years, I have never seen the boot strengthening bars painted green, Sherwood or Ermine!

If you can be bothered to wade through all the text at the top you will read its lost its original chassis number and been reshelled. So what's left that makes it a lotus cortina?

If I remember right I took this picture at Coombe Abbey mk1 cortina owners club show in about 1998. It was a pre aeroflow car, but fitted with an aeroflow front panel, otherwise it was pre aeroflow spec. I think then it was still in the hands of a long term owner and was still in road trim. Note the oddly placed mirrors and full length, white, roll back sunroof.

That's quite a odd place for someone to be lying down at a cortina show. If it's daylight hours you normally find people in the 'A frame inspection' position!

Both quotes taken from the Description.

This genuine 1963 car has been the subject of a total rebuild over the last six months.Painted in the Original correct Lotus Cortina White,

this is a Genuine Mk 1 Lotus Cortina—– fully rebuilt for Historic Rally & requiring minimal set up for Circuit use,

Not according to that chassis plate.

The VIN plate proves without a doubt that this a genuine 2 door Deluxe, built in Dagenham in July 1963, fitted with two tone blue seats and blue floor covering. This information has been added to the database of the MK1 OC register, hoping to avoid issues about originality in the future.

if you read the advert it does state it was re-shelled

The Extensive History file, shows the car was run as a road car until 1969, at this time by a local Rally Driver in Newcastle, who was also a Lotus Dealership Owner. In 1970 an extensive front end shunt resulted in the car needing to be re- shelled & fully re built . The Owner died, some years later, before the rebuild was finished & work was then not done until 1998—– some 29 years later– During this 1st extensive re-build the car gained the Mk 2- front Grill. The car then sat for another 10 years prior to being sold to us, in July 2011.

I think the point being made above is it doesn't have a Lotus shell or a Lotus ID so how can it be a Lotus Cortina?

Its a Mk1 Cortina with Lotus parts fitted. Now if its priced as such I'm sure it would make someone a nice car.
