Here is the idea;

Take a mk1 2 door and remove the interior build a lotus replica (this been done before) but build one for track days and alarming old ladies on a Sunday, I hope to be able to set off shop alarms down the high street at night (some people never grow up :D )

Spec
Capri rear end

Type 9 5 speed

Race fuel tank and facet delivery system old tank removed and tidied up.

Rear battery

Rear roll cage fitted

J S Motorsports (starting to get interesting yet?) 1760 stretched tall block twin cam running phase 5 inlet cam and special grind exhaust cam, ducati plugs 1.63mm inlets and 1.4 outlets. Burton water pump kit,

Rack and pinnion conversion, coil over suspension all round with anti dive kit.

Pre engaged starter, oil cooler and termostatic electric override on the water cooling.

Lucas competition electronic ignition kit to keep the sparks going,
Currently running revolution wheels rather than the usual minilites or factory steels.....

Well we have made a start at the weekend and thought you might be interested?

Going to try it on 45DCOE9's first and see how the running goes, I hope to use it as a sunday "quick blast" car as well as track days, but with the engine build being for power I hope it makes enough torque and is not too cammy.

some pictures below

now where are the head bolts I hope I have enough....

Head seems to fit Ok

There is a pre engaged starter in there, fitting snuggly and hopefully will help if I have monster compression!!

IMG_1255.jpg

oil cooler in to stop any overheating hopefully

IMG_1257.jpg

Fancy sparks kit hope this will keep it fed with energy up the rev range and make sure it starts

IMG_1258.jpg

Head detailing can you see the big brass plugs where modified?

IMG_1259.jpg

Also not the much smaller spark plug holes to accommodate the Ducati sparkplugs which are needed as the valves would not fit otherwise......

I just hope the motor is as good as the engineering work put into it

Hi Brendan,
Now that does look very trick! Very nice indeed, but do you think the type 9 will hold on with all that power?
Borg Warner T5 would handle it. How about going way out there and addapting the 6 speed Mazda RX8 box I've got kicking around?
Got a T5 gearset too, but no cases, or selectors, etc.
If nothing more, at least sort the 1st gear ratio out on the type 9, with a Burton, or BGH Geartech conversion kit.
One things for sure, that cars gonna fly!!!
Scott

Keep the gearbox ready Scott, i will see what the motor behaves like first but keep the parts ready i may be visiting again soon!!

Cheers

Brendan
