Hi All
This sadly happens all too often.
The key things too remember is, that a genuine email from paypal or any other bank, will as they all say never ask for your details to be given online. Therefore if a security issue did infact exist, they would always ask you to visit them, or will phone you on their contact numbers you have provided to them, when you opened the banking facility, or have updated them with since.
Secondly these emails that try to con you always look like the real thing but what they cannot do is replicate the http address in the band at the top of your screen, so if you do click through what looks like a genuine site by mistake, always check the address and you will see that is is not paypal or any other correct address for a banking facility as it will redirect you to the fraudsters site to gather your confidential details.
I have been told this by a very good friend of mine who works for the CID internet fraud department. so if you follow these simple rules you will not be the subject of one of these cons.
so remember
1) any banking facility will never!! but never!! ask you to confirm or provide your details online, so bin the email and contact the correct banking facility direct and report it to them.
2) if you do click through look at the address bar at the top of the screen it will not be who you expect to see, so again bin it at that stage.
These simple two rules will keep you safe from banking fraud online, and if you just think of it for a minute, the banking facility online already have all the info as provided by you so why would they ask you to confirm it??????????? it is simply illogical and bonkers for anyone to think otherwise.
Be safe!!! keep your details to yourself and your money were it should be, in your bank accounts.
Regards
Kev
