In the Jan edition of Octane magazine there is a feature of the famous 166 RUR race car.

The long and short of it is it looks like LCR comittee member Andy Middlehurst has sold the car to aging crooner Chris Rea.

Quoting the mag Chris is 'a genuine enthusiast , Chris has lusted after a Lotus Cortina since childhood'

Apparently Chris intends to race the car in 07 - but is doesn't say in which series.

QB Ed: - Do you think there is any chance you can try to get an interview with Chris (maybe via Andy Middlehurst) and find out his plans for the car and maybe talk him into providing race reports for the QB?? - Not much to ask  - but its got to worth a try.

Hopefully Andy left a membership form in the glove box. Mind you Chris maybe a bit skint after buying the car

Well if he doesn't enjoy it Keith he won't be 'Driving home for Christmas' as he will be 'Between the Devil and the deep blue sea'.
If he does enjoy it he may end up racing in 'Daytona' but he would have to watch out for 'Donahue's broken wheel' because as we all know in racing 'Every second counts'. If he has a good mechanic then he won't hear the car go 'Boom Boom' because if he did he may feel like a 'Fool' and have to tow it up the 'Freeway' thinking it was 'Just one of those days'

Flicking through the Jan 08 edition of Classiccars Magazine it looks like this car has been left in the hands of TDH (Terry Hoyle) Classics in Essex to get it ready for racing next year.

Maybe one of the Essex clan could pop in and see if they can find out a bit more about what Chris has planned for the car. Why you're there have a nose at some of the classic Ferrari's keeping the LC company.
