Whilst the body of my Mk 2 is being renovated by SJB Sheet metal work in Weston-Super-Mare I have started work on the various mechanical bits.
As I have mentioned before the car has not run since the early 1980's and the head etc. was taken off a few years after that. I have just stripped the rest of the engine down which was fun as a couple of the pistons had “seized”/rusted in. Got them all out now so I can clean everything up and see how best to proceed.
Any way as the last time I filled the car up it was probably with leaded petrol is there anything I should consider with the head, valve guides, seats etc to enable the car to run reliable on unleaded petrol?
Also whilst I am at it does anybody know what colour the engine block, sump, head and cam covers were originally for a Series 1 MK 2?
Many thanks
