Hi Guys & Gals - Newbee requesting help to find LC

Hi All

I currently own a Lotus Elise 111 R and am one of the Regional Organisers for the SELOC club. It is SELOC that pointed me in your direction.

Last year I took part in my first endurance rally event, but that was an event for modern cars and I really want to get into the classic scence.

With this in mind it makes sense to keep to the brand and I've always fancied a LC. I am looking to spend around £15k but would like something that is already FIA approved or not far short of it or has roll-bar, stripped out etc rather than ruin a nice example! :D

Any pointers much appreciated.

Regards
Clive

Hi Clive - welcome

http://www.racecarsdirect.com/ is a good place to start. A turn key FIA spec'd car will probably be a bit more then your budget , but you may find one that needs a bit of work or re-commisioning for that figure.

Hi Steve

Thanks for the feedback, perhaps I am hoping for too much with the FIA papers etc, but the first problem I have had is identifying genuine LC's from fakes!

:D

If you are going to compete in it, better off using a fake. Why trash a genuine article when a fake with the right bits will do the same job and cheaper too.

Fair point, I hadn't considered that!

Hi Clive and welcome to the forum,
A nice LC would of course be excellent for classic endurance rallying.
There is quite a strong arguement either way for replica or geniune LC, the best way is test drive a few and make your own mind up...
Just to add another thing to think about, 15k will get you a well prepared mk2 LC plus your first year entrance fees plus a fair bit of cash left over for your petrol fund. Definetely try and get a drive in one.
Cheers

Hi Louis

Thanks for this and actually I am quite keen on the look of the MkII...

Cheers

Clive,
If you are still looking for a Mk1 Jim Dudley at Tiger racing is selling his GT.
Its not a Lotus but is a real nice car with FIA papers.
I would say this is one of the best cars I have seen bodywise. He has had it a while and never wanted to sell it.
May be worth a call. He is a good bloke to deal with.
