***Numbers edited by Steve 155C ****

Just bought Lotus Cortina Reg CYC 612C Chassis BA74EU56*** Engine Number LP62****

The cars has all the FIA Appendix K paperwork,

It also appears to have had been registered as MAN 675 C at some stage which we are confused about.

It had a complete rebuild in the Isle of Man in 1990 so maybe had to be registered there for a while. Understood it won a Manx rally

I have pictures of some of the paperwork and would realy appreciate any comments or knowledge you might have about this car.

BA 74EU would indicate a February 1965 car but the actual chassis number seems very low. Are you sure it isn't 59*** rather than 56***?

Guys - I've edited out parts of your chassis numbers as its probably not a good idea to post all that info on a public forum.

Hopefully people will recognise that cars from the reg nos.

Hi

Thanks for the reply and info,

Yes the chassis number is 56 not 59.

Any further information would be much appreciated.

Michael

Hi Michael - I don't have much info on this car other that it used to be owned by Stacy Vickers - but you probably know that anyway.

In your blog you talk about putting and A frame rear end on this car , but this looks like a leaf spring shell.

Afraid the Cortina purchase has fallen through, Stacy Vickes decided to continue with the rebuild poject after the hassle and delays caused by us wanting verification that it is a genuine LC.

It appears hat Racing LC's posible did have different chassis numbers than the production ones starting with 59xxxx

This is born out where 2 othe racing LC's with FIA papework are on the market for zillions of pounds and have chassis begining 44xxxxx

Thanks to all who offered help.

Michael

I'm not sure that racing L/C's did have chassis numbers in a different range from production ones.
The 44XXXXXX numbers you refer to are presumably on pre 1965 cars which had totally different chassis numbers anyway.

Well it looks like the 2 others going for zillions arent true LCs as well then, there were no special chassis numbers issued for race cars so forget about that myth. FIA papers mean bugger all for authenticity.
