Original Parts For Mk II Phase 2 Car

I’m starting my quest to get my recently acquired Mk 11 Phase 2 car back to completely standard and original specification. I’m after:

Original handbook
Jack, handle and wheelbrace
Internal mirror with stem and screws
2x ‘C’ Pillar covers (headlining covered, they cover the air outlets) with clips
Original glovebox knurled chrome knob with rubber cover (same as GT)
Original gearknob
Petrol Filler Cap
Dynamo with main mounting bracket and adjuster bracket
Regulator
Fuse Box Cover
4 x weber trumpets, 8 trumpet ‘D’ washers
1x throttle outer cable locator barrel (in-between carbs that locates the outer cable)
1 x throttle cable
And of course, the air cleaner assembly, including brackets and backplate, triangular plastic bit, connecting hose and main canister.

Many thanks…Mark

Hi,
That list should'nt be too hard to find (on here, ebay or autojumble's) apart from the infamous mk2 intake 'restrictor'!
Cheers
Louis
I've got some old rampipes if you get desperate, what length are the one's on yours?

It doesn't have any at the moment, Louis. And looking at the photo, it looks like that servo vacuum pipe is missing it's one way valve (and is too long), and the fuel feed pipes need replacing.

The fun begins!!

Hi Mark, have you taken the air cleaner covers of the carbs yet? I ask this as even though different filters are fitted there should be tubes fitted underneath. My car had a Piper Cross filter fitted but still had the ram tubes.

Cheers
Mark.

Hi Mark...no, I'm studying the car from pictures on my laptop as I'm away from my garage for a couple of days. Good point, there may well be some pipes in the filters, although they seem very shallow to have the standard size. I'm asuming standard size to be the same as Elan ones, which stick out of the carbs a fair way....I could well be wrong though.

I'll be a bit more scientific on Friday and get the spanners out!!

I know other members have got the steel servo pipe made up using an original as a pattern , but I think they had to use the original one way valve.

I'll try and find out some details of who made the pipe up.

If anybody ever questioned the value or genuiness(is that a word) of this website, one only needs to follow this thread.
Pat on the back for all participants..........PM

To add to Steve's reply above--Phil Haylar has most of the bits to make the servo pipe but I don't think he has the one way valve. He's made mostly for the MK1 aeroflow but believe the differences are minimal.

Thanks chaps...is Phil Haylar on this forum, or do you have any contact details for him? The one way valve shouldn't be a problem as the early Mexico used an identical unit...I think! The Elan and Plus 2 also used a one way valve, but a different pattern I seem to remember.

Sorry for appearing a bit thick, but should the one way valve be connected to the end of the servo pipe and then connected to the inlet manifold using a small length of hose? If this is the part I am thinking of, I am fairly sure I have a spare one in my workshop. It's free to a good home!

That's exactly what it is...here's my Mexico which I think is the same thing. I would certainly like it, but it's got to be worth something....and I need the big nut that attaches the one-way valve to the pipe!!

Mark - this is the company that another member used to get a pipe made up:

http://www.hopespare.com/branches.htm

He did supply them with a pattern to copy and he supplied his own one way valve.

I now have most of the wants, with just these to find:

Jack, handle and wheelbrace

Internal mirror with stem and screws

Original glovebox knurled chrome knob with rubber cover (same as GT)

Dynamo with main mounting bracket and adjuster bracket

Regulator

Fuse Box Cover

Additionally, I'm after a throttle spring plate, the triangular plate that bolts to the back of the manifold via extended studs, and itt supports the throttle return spring.

There's a lot goes missing when the original air cleaner is replaced by a pair of sardine cans filled with foam rubber!

Any one know what are the cam covers for that have the holes drilled in about half way along on the intake side? Often see them on ebay. I assumed they were for the mk2 air filter.

FH

They're for the Stromberg engine Elan, with the two holes used for the throttle cable bracket.

Some Mk2 Cortinas and Twincam Escorts had this cam cover, probably because Lotus ran out of the normal ones...but no bracket fitted.
