My car has not moved for a few weeks now and probably won't for quite a few more.
Is it OK to leave a smart charger connected for an extended period or should it be taken off once in a while, then put back on ?
I know Keith, as mine is, but should they be left connected for long periods?
The tops don't come off as they are vented and it is only trickle charging anyway.
Neil is the man for this !

A smart charger even a Lidl one should be regulated so not to overcharge a battery .
An alternative is the use of a solar panel I use one to keep the battery on my test rig charged because it rests the battery when dark will keep a battery happy.
I have one that I leave connected to my day to day car parked outside keeps the battery topped up and as not being used daily at this time that helps with cold starting ( note if using a power socket need to be live all the time.
The output in amps you need to think about if you have a alarm or tracker devise .
Also some chargers will not reset if a power cut.
With a smart/ regulated charger you should not affect the acid level. Big safety note turn off chargers before disconnecting terminals as the gases whilst charging can blow the side of a battery out and the acid will spoil your day due to being ignited from a spark .
Sad news as I have sold My LC and wont be staying a member get your questions in.
Thanks Neil, surely your day to day car doesn't need it.
What about LCs with no alarms or trackers sitting in the garage for 4 or 5 months?
Are you moving on to a different classic, or out altogether ?
