The LCR Website

I can't help noticing that the LCR website is looking a bit "tired".
The current picture has been there for a very long time and whilst no doubt a splendid vehicle, it is hardly typical of the breed.
Can't we show another picture, at least a white and green car?
Also the link to National Day photos still says "2006...coming soon".
Whatever happened to them or 2007 or 2008?
I know apathy prevails in all car clubs but at least we could present a more up to date appearance to the outside world.

I am in agreement, although still a new boy the site does look a little tired and perhaps it is easier for me to see this with fresh eyes?

If you look at www.seloc.org or www.vx220.org.uk you'll see they're a little more up to date.

I can provide some details of a web designer if requested?

I dont think it's the website designer/provider that's the problem it's finding volunteers to maintain that's the issue.

My own experience with the mk2oc is the same, we advertise for a volunteer with some computer knowledge to help and we get little or no volunteers.

All these website and forums rely on volunteers. I could agree with the above comments but then i would not criticise those who currently run the site. I wont/cant volunteer so i'm not in a position to complain.

ps

Dont tinker with a successful format, maybe just freshen it up now and then.

This would have been an extra agenda item for the AGM had it been posted a week earlier.

I had the Mk1 Owners Club site, which was well tired, redesigned for £500 when I was on the committee a while ago. I used one of my staff at Ford & still have contact with him.

Any of the Committee - could you advise if the club's coffers would run to a revamp & some ongoing maintenance?

Louis (Lashman - ie Mr Website) has changed jobs since he originally started the website and it means he is away for quite long periods at a time , hence doesn't have as much time as he did to maintain the website.

He is aware it has fallen a bit behind and is currently rewriting it.

Maybe post up here what you would like to see on there and lets see what happens.

All my fault I'm afraid, I lost the orginal coding for the website after I wrote, with the orginal coding I could easily change text and pictures with a simple update. (we used to change the frontpage picture every month).
As Steve states I Work away from home a lot, I average 220 nights away from home a year. Which has menat the current re-write that's under way is taking a lot longer than the last one.
Of course it dos'ent have to be all my work, (I was only chatting to Steve about this, this morning). Please get in touch if you want to help out, it takes a lot less technical knowledge than you'd think. Personally I think it's the 'shop bought' web sites look very flashly but are quite souless. The site would be even better with more people's input.

How many one armed hitch hikers can you get through in 220 nights a year?
Apologies for lowering the tone of this post.
A lot of newcommers to the LCR forum state they find it better than others in terms of topics and comments. New and/or changes to graphics will do it no harm.
Thanks to all who give up their own time to organise it.

Hi All,
All these observations were brought up and discussed at the AGM and Louis and Steve are fully aware of its shortcomings and are addressing the situation.
I am sorry i did`nt post the minutes of the AGM as soon as it was over but as only the committee turned up I thought none of you were interested in the outcome!

I think the Forum that we are currently using is absolutely tops. There is alot of extremely useful content and the comments left by all are typically helpful and informative. Very little content in the way of useless garbage or replies for the sake of replying.

I also think the LCR website is a great site but does need a little bit of updating. But as with the QB mag to update the website, you need new material and I guess Louis, apart from being busy leaning out the window taking photos of cars while picking up one armed hitch hikers, has enough on his plate trying to come up with new material for it.

In general though, keep up the good work LCR guys 8)

I am the Regional Organiser for SELOC in the OXON region and I always invite the VX220.org.uk group along as well. Last month there were 3 x VX but in the Summer when I arrange to pre-drinks drive out/blat we usually get about 5, plus around 12 Lotus.

Which region are you in?
