The very last Lotus Cortina Mk1 for sale

Hello everyone,

Now this is something that doesn't come up every day!

The very last Lotus Cortina Mk1 ever made is coming to the market and initially is being offered to LCR members before going onto the wider market as the owner would prefer such an historic vehicle to be sold to a Lotus Cortina enthusiast I think you'd agree is a really decent gesture!
This is a unique opportunity and a collectors dream! If you have ever desired anything in your life to own it would either be the first or the last!!

Then here it is!!

It has been fully inspected and is without doubt the real deal and in remarkably good condition being first a Californian dry state car before finding its way to Italy where it was in a museum and did a few small local rallies!

The car is complete never been welded is all up and running with original engine and and interior etc. It is significantly unmolested, undamaged and unrestored and road ready having recently taken part in the Turini and the Col de Braus, (the 2 most famous stages of the Monte Carlo) and also the “Coppa D’Oro delle Dolomiti. These were all low average events meaning no racing is involved just time trial tests where you have to arrive at stages within a given time usually within seconds, not minutes or hours but seconds!

The car is located in Belgium the owner speaks excellent and fluent English and is a true gentleman.
I have photos and will gladly supply to interested parties and will post some on here which I may need help to do!!

Please contact me if genuinely interested and I will pass on your details directly to the seller!

Good luck to you and truthfully if I had any money left I would buy it in an instant!!

Best regards

Andy

Just pushing this to the top
I am staggered that I have not received one inquiry for this car!
This is a very nice ex Californian car, so no rot and is an up and running car!

The sympathetic alterations to the vehicle are for the husband and wife team to be able to compete in a timed trial series that are on ordinary regular roads that involve non speed events. These alterations have been carried out to easily return everything to original spec.
So the vehicle is not thrashed to every event but driven sedately to enjoy the countryside whilst having some fun with others!

Yes its pricier than a normal car but as I have said it is ex dry state LHD USA car with nothing hidden beneath the exterior and has never been welded from new!!
Anyone that collects anything in their lives either wants the first or the last made.
Here is your chance to own one of those 2.

Andy M

Please be advised there is no personal gain or financial interest from the LCR associated with this sale.

Hi Andy,
I too cannot understand why no one has come forward re. this car. The only thing I can think of is those members who visit this forum regularly already have one and don't want or need another.

Rick is still on the LC Mk1 & Mk2 Facebook group so I would suggest he posts it on there. I will gladly post the details in the LC Hub FB group. All you have to do is ask and I will do the necessary.

Cheers Brian

I am already handling this for Andy Brian. :D

Hi Chris,

Sorry, don't want to launch into a row or spat on this subject but the club is not only for UK members and enthusiasts we have members worldwide.
Therefore the post is for everyone RHD countries as well as LHD and as the car was originally a Californian car the USA has a large contingent of members so could easily be repatriated!

Two thirds of the world drive on the right meaning they drive LHD vehicles.

There is also a stunning ex California car located on the South Coast that has had a sympathetic restoration for sale, these cars are out there, better buy than some of the reconstituted dross that are doing the rounds.

IVE HAD THE BEST OF THE CLASSIC FORDS IN LHD ANA TRUST ME THEY DO NOT SELL UNLESS THEY ARE VERY CHEAP, IM AM TALKING FROM EXPERIENCE, HAVE YOU EVER DRIVE A LEFT HAND DRIVE CORTINA, TOO MUCH LIKE HARD WORK,TOO EXPENSIVE NOW TO SHIP ABROAD

Ive imported 3no Mk1 Lotus Cortinas from USA
Obviously LHD
All three being very solid original cars with original paint
They sold straight away within days of being advertised
All 3 cars went on to European buyers

Ive owned 100’s of LHD cars over the years (Mainly classics & Prestige ) they have always sold well. Theres a bigger market for LHD The world is a small place now with shipping from one location to another being very easy to arrange

In fact some cars make a premium being LHD

Chris

Yes your 100% correct LHD Classic Fords are less money to buy and to me seem good value ?

Ive most likely still got 10 LHD cars in my collection that ive had for years but I know if I decide to sell they will most likely go for export ?

I was amazed my little SL Pagoda that I sold last year was bought by a UK fella and is staying in UK

As you say its always down to price ?
But LHD cars in my experience have always been very wanted and most of the time sell very quickly

Ive not got many Lotus Cortinas now
Ive only got 4 and there all race cars
Im slowing down now have not got as many cars.
I dont buy or sell them like I use to.
Plus the classic car market in my opinion is slipping, not what it was ?

All the best
Rob
