Ultra Close Ratio Gearsets

Hi All,
I've been in contact with a chap called Steve Perks, who is interested in
remanufacturing the early Mark 1 L/C gearsets for road cars. That means helical cut gears, as per original. Up till now, only straight cut gearsets in these ratio's have been available.
These are the versions with the 2.5 first gear (good for 45+ mph).
They can be easily retro fitted to any three rail Cortina/Escort gearbox.
He needs interest from 25 prospective buyers, to kickstart the project.
The gearsets should retail at £675 + vat. A sensible price, in my opinion.
Post your interest up here and I'll keep Steve posted.
I will definitely have a spare set for AJT.
Anyone else?

My bullet box got thrown in the skip by mistake when I was having a clear out, nice ratios once you get moving & always found mine ok even for a road car. Can't commit to buy a set but just wanted to let you know you've just made me cry again over throwing it away Scott !

So £810.....mmm, you know I could be interested Scott.
You could end up knee deep in gearbox assembly work if this comes off!

Hi Pete,
I hope not mate! Parts are becoming increasingly difficult to find these days.
Could you mention it to Don, when you see him.
I think he'll be after a set, or two. Perhaps Colin would be interested too.
It's a shame devonboy, is taking things slowly these days, he could have had a few sets too!
What about some of you speed merchants out there? Louis, Tony D, Neil? Are you all going straight-cut, or you looking for combined road use?

I did ask Colin & he is fixed up but I'll check with Don via email for you Scott.

Hi Pete,
Not enough interest as yet mate, although Geoff Letts has told me that he's heard of another manufacturer, who are looking to reproduce them.
I'm waiting to hear from Geoff, he's not been seen at our pubmeet for a while now. I'll post any further news when I get it.

Is the one from Quaife/TTR any good?
From page 53 in their catalogue:
"Ford Bullet (2000E) Standard Ratio Clubman
Helical Gearkit
• Helical Synchromesh gearkit
• Standard Ford / Lotus gear ratios for homologation
• Fits standard mainshaft"

QKE43Z Clubman
Gear Ratios
1st 2nd 3rd 4th
2.510 1.697 1.231 1.000

(I guess this kit originally came along from when they took over Tran-x?)
