In the January 1980 Club Lotus News Bulletin (the forerunner of Quarter Bumper), there was an article on overhauling split prop shafts.
The various wheelbases were quoted as:
Feb.63 to July 64: 249.9cms.
July 64 to May 65: 249.9cms.
May 65 onwards: 248.29cms.
Standard Cortina: 248.92cms.
The author (Don Matheson) remarked that he was surprised that the 10mm or so difference between the two types of split prop cannot be accommodated at the sliding spline, thus allowing them to be interchangeable.
