Window Clips

Hi All,

Has anyone found where we can get the correct (or near enough) metal clips for the front door windows on a Mk1?
The clips that hold the brush onto the sliding window.
I brought some from the Mk1 owners club many moons ago and when I've tried to fit them they scratch the window. After labouriously filing the edge down they become brittle and break. They are absolutely useless.
Any pointers/help much appreciated.

PS What about the Speedo cable (through bulkhead) rubber grommet and the brake pipe grommets that go through the inner wing? Tried the Mk1 owners club now been 3 months and no reply!!!!

Andy - I may have some second hand ones which you could blast clean - any good?

How many do you need?

PS. Mk1 club spares business has been relocated & is up and running again.

Andy - if you can't get new grommets, best thing to do would be to contact Colin Ginn. I am sure in amongst his pyramid of Mk1s he would have the bits you are looking for!

Andy - you have to use the clips that match the brush felt strip you are using. The original clips do not fit the MK1 clubs felt strip or the felt strip that you can get from other suppliers.

I did manage to grind the edge off the club clips using an angle grinder - i think I only broke two clips doing it. Its a bit fiddle but can be done.

Many thanks for your advice.
Yes Steve they are correct.
The only problem I have is after, you saying that the original clips don't fit the new scraper brush I am in a quandery what to do!
I have spoken to Aldridge and East Kent and apparently they can supply clips for their own brush. The brushes I have came with the car so I am unsure who's they are or even if they are original type!
I will probably buy both types and also try for those at the auction. As long as either Aldridge or East Kent do not supply the Mk1 club I should hopefully be able to cover all bases!
