Looking for any information on this car, my dad owned this car from new. It was apparently stolen and used in a robbery and then he got it back before selling it on.

Is this car still around?

Thanks

Sorry dont know who Jimmy Clitheroe is!!!

950 UNK is definelty the registration he said he had, picked the car up himself from Lotus in Cheshunt!

So does anyone know if the car is still about? I read that a member in Yorkshire possibly has it?

Rick has the records , but I expect he's busy with the National Day. I'm sure he'll post a reply some time after Sunday.

As far as I'm aware the car still exists, but have always been told that it's 1st owner was Jimmy Clitheroe, who bought it from Lotus at Cheshunt.
I know the guy who has it now and he's fully restored the car. I should be seeing him over this weekend, so will mention your message to him.
Perhaps he'll contact you via this forum.
There are several L/C's within a run of UNK registrations, so there may be a mix up over the number. Another friend of mine owned 953 UNK in the 80's and someone else has already made enquiries on this forum about 952 UNK.

In the November 1998 Newsletter from the MK1 Cortina O.C. appeared a letter from someone named Peter Roe.
He writes that he has recently bought a 1963 LC with registration ANB50A and vehicle number Z*****.
According to his letter the original registration was 960UNK, and he claims that this is the ex-Clitheroe car.
I have not been able to verify any of this information, but a mix-up of 960UNK and 950UNK appeares likely.
As per today both ANB50A and 960UNK are not registered at the DVLA anymore.

My mix up over the numbers. As gt 4 now states, the Clitheroe car is 960 UNK. Strangely, Peter Roe now owns yet another UNK registered car, having sold 960 UNK a few years ago.
By the way gt for now, could you please edit out the chassis number for this car, it's best not to display these details on an open forum.
As for 950 UNK, it could well be stored up somewhere, keep searching!
SBD 16V, any chance of posting up a photo of it?

I'll refrain from mentioning chassisnumbers in further postings if this is considered too sensitive for the forum. Reason I mentioned it in this particular case was that is it appeared openly in the letter from Peter Roe, suggesting that the owner (at least at that time) didn't consider it confidential at all...

Thanks for your help and clarifying that the reg is correct, unfortunatly he doesnt have any pics of the car!

Hopefully its still about and someone may know where it is

I bought this car around 1995 in a semi restored condition from crunch motor salvage in Bolton, the owner had been restoring it for a number of years, he had fitted new inner wings, rear quarters, outer wings etc.
It was missing the a frame suspension and the ali bonnet
I sold it around 1996 still in the same state, around 2002 i saw it travelling up the m62 on a trailer still in the same condition, the number 960UNK had been lost a few years previous and it was re-reg ANB50A

Hi, I went to buy this from a lock up in Bury,I was told it just wanted painting and triming but I found it wanted a lot more work as all the parts were in packing cases. It had leaf springs on,struts on but the bolt were all loose, and the story about the number was not right as he said it was on retension so I left it with him. Last I heard it was in North Wales this was in 1996.RONV.I then bought AHC543B from mid Wales.
