Found this old post from Scott which helps :-
Steering boxes are a nightmare to identify.
As far as I know, all GT's had a 13.4-1 ratio, giving 3.5 turns lock to lock. Aeroflow L/C's are the same.
Early preaeroflow L/C's have a high ratio box, giving about 2.75 turns lock to lock. Most of the specification data I've encountered, say that these are 13.4-1 ratio, but I don't see how they can be, as they are different to A/F L/C's and GT's. :?
One piece of info I have on Group 2 race L/C's, say the high ratio box fitted, is 11.8-1. This would make sense, if this is the one fitted to the early cars.
Later preaeroflow L/C's (but not all), have the basic ratio box fitted, which I've seen listed as both 14.0-1 and 15.1-1!! This one gives about 4 turns lock to lock.
Studying the parts books, just gives you more of a headache, as little seems to make sense there either!
Just to add insult to injury, when the steering boxes are off the vehicle, they will give more than the suggested turns from lock to lock. IE; an early 2.75 turn box, will give about 4 turns in total off the car and the GT/late L/C about 5 turns off the car.
Hope this confuses you all!!
