As very few use this forum would you like me to appeal for attendance / questions on my Facebook groups until the enhanced forum is implemented ?

Good morning Keith,

Many thanks for your offer but as the club no longer are able to support other groups it is not necessary to advertise by these media outlets.

Thanks anyway!

I understand , but as the LCR members don't use this forum & no longer have a magazine to assist communication, they will never find out about the AGM so no attendance & no questions. Are you OK about that?

Just to add my twopenny worth, I am one of the few LCR members who DO use this forum.
With the demise of Quarter Bumper some years ago, how are we supposed to access the minutes of the AGM?
I assume that they are published somewhere.....otherwise little point in having an AGM.

Michael - Last year's topic on the subject may answer your question https://forum.lotuscortina.net/viewtopic.php?p=53328&hilit=agm#p53328

Good morning Keith and Michael,

Not telling anyone to suck eggs here but just to be clear as you know the AGM is held for members and non members to attend if they wish to do so.
We never had FB or Twitter mediums in past years so up until then anyone wishing to attend could do so, and as you say the dates and venue were then always published in the QB and posted on this forum.

Quite rightly as you point out with the demise of the QB that leaves only this forum for notification.
Last year we were able to utilise the LCR FB site as we were then supportive of that site.
However, as of this year we are no longer involved, so our platform of notification is very limited but next year we shall be up and running with our new site etc and will be able to inform members and non members alike on a much broader basis but until then I am afraid it will be this forum and by word of mouth only to inform the membership/interested parties.

The profit and loss balance sheets were always issued in the QB and as I have mentioned previously the minutes were available to any member not attending the AGM on request!
Note: the accounts will be logged with companies house but the AGM minutes will be available on request (directly to the chairman) once copied up which maybe a month or so after!

At present our media outlet is through the forum and if members do not wish to view the forum as you rather sweepingly state Keith, then the club cannot force them too!

After all the club is available for the membership but only if they choose to use it.

Best regards to all

Andy

Thanks for the clarification Andy.

My 'sweeping generalisation' on forum visitors is based on my personal daily usage where I always check in to see if anyone has been on & commenting. I would say there are about half a dozen of us who do that regularly so I would say I have a pretty accurate picture; as it is a daily check.

Are the accounts only available from Companies House or would they accompany any request for minutes?

Also is "word of mouth" literally that or is written form acceptable?

Hi Andy,
Many thanks for the info., I had asked for the details in a post in the public events section. I am still planning to attend.

I have noted the above comments and replies, but to get it publicised to more members, and thus get more attendees, would you approve my posting the following on the LC Mk1 & 2, LC Hub, Mk1 Cortina CHAT Facebook groups.

LCR 2024 AGM - 17th November 2024 at 10.45am - If LCR members would like to attend or put forward questions for discussion please go to the forum as below. Questions for discussion must be submitted before 10 Nov.
Lotus Cortina Register - LCR Forum - Private Forum (Members Only) - Club Discussion, and look for the post "AGM 2024" - by Andy M » Sat Oct 26, 2024.

I could include a link to your post, which of course will only work for members.

https://forum.lotuscortina.net/viewtopic.php?t=8367&sid=68c023aabaf4bf104e10c64ef82c714a

To save you time a simple yes please or no thanks will suffice.

Cheers Brian

Hello Brian,

No thanks!

The reason as stated above in my initial reply to Keith are as we no longer support the FB page it would be wrong to hijack it to publicise LCR issues!

I have corresponded with Keith and Howard with regards to people advertising cars for sale on the FB Hub but these adverts/posts are just trying to help the general public to sell their vehicle and pass them on for others to enjoy they are not LCR specific.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,
I don't think it would be looked at as hijacking their sites and I could always add a comment to the site admin (Bob, Howard, Keith as appropriate), please remove if not allowed/felt to be inappropriate. I know for sure Keith would not mind such a post on his group.

If you change your mind just let me know and I will do the necessary.

I'm putting together a list of questions for discussion and will let you have asap. Would you like it sent direct to you or posted here.

Cheers Brian

Good evening Brian,

By email is fine you have my email!

May I ask are these questions from yourself or from the fraternity you are currently in league with and find yourself possibly representing as spokesperson?
If the questions are from an outside consortium and not from representative members of the LCR and found to be intrusive or derogative in any way they will not be discussed and could be dismissed or shelved for another time!
However, If they are from you and are genuine questions with regards the LCR its financial stability and the way it is governed or are offering improvement in all things LCR then fine, and if there is time then these questions can be addressed therefore I would suggest that those questions most important to you are tabled first!

Sadly, I am conscious of the retoric and negativity that is being aimed towards the LCR and has been for sometime from certain circles they know who they are and so do you and I will not allow it to be exposed or portrayed at the members AGM.

Yes, the AGM is for all things to be discussed within reason but not for stirring up discontent or suggesting there is ineptitude among the committee as some outside forces are saying as these people like all cowardly keyboard warriors seem to have only one agenda that is to throw scorn and to demonise the committee and the way that it is trying to run the club!

If this is not where you are going then you will not be offended by my response to those that freely give over to this type of childish behavior and venomous vociferous view!

Regards

Andy M

Andy

Last year, Brian said he was attending the AGM & offered to table a question on my behalf regarding the new joiners’ process. I don’t think it was ever discussed, Brian couldn’t remember & the problem hasn’t recurred since; so not currently an issue. This year he has offered to collate the questions again, as he plans to attend in November.

I think he has a list of new items that were being raised throughout the year when the LCR had their own Facebook page (now renamed Lotus Cortina HUB) & members of that old LCR group had raised as concerns.

So; is it still OK for Brian to bring along all questions from anyone , or would you prefer individual submissions via your email?

[Hi Andy,
The questions are just mine and are all things which I personally feel would benefit the club going forward.

I will send it to you via e-mail.
Cheers Brian]

Hi Andy,
I have just done a reply to my AGM post in the public section, to advise everyone to go to your post etc.

Hopefully the 189 people who have seen my post will do the necessary by letting you know if they are planning to attend.

I believe it would help those thinking of attending if you posted a copy of the 2023 AGM minutes. Only members will see it, if you post it in this section or just add it to this post string.

Cheers Brian

Evening Keith,

The club is happy to receive questions to be tabled at the AGM providing there is sufficient time.
I'm a little unsure why the members are unwilling to put forward these questions themselves by way of this forum.
Questions do not need to wait until the AGM to be levied? If we as a committee can answer them in the meantime then of course we will!
As these questions were made on FB Hub during the year and you have noted them are they still relevant?
If you feel that they are please put the members names next to the questions you are compiling so we can identify and possibly contact them in person if any subject is of a slightly delicate nature!

I have already replied to Brian as the questions he wanted asked I have been able to advise him on and hopefully satisfactorily.

Best regards

Andy

Hi Andy - the questions that arose from the original LCR Facebook page are Brian's submissions, as mine are still to be sent to you by the 10th of the month.

I suggest that the reason the members are unwilling to put forward these questions themselves by way of this forum is because they are primarily Facebook users not familiar with the old LCR website forum.

Regards - Keith

One question I have, and to which I have alluded previously, is why it would appear to be the responsibility of the LCR chairman to record the AGM minutes and then possibly publish them at a later date.
In every other organisation or club of which I have been a member, that responsibility rested with the secretary.
May I also enquire if the chairman is still David Missions and if so what is his email address or other means of contact?

Morning Michael,

I am afraid that when you have a committee as small as ours responsibilities are sometimes allocated to peoples strengths so many of the responsibilities/positions are often shared somewhat.

Yes, David is still chairman and can be emailed at chairman@lotuscortina.net

Andy M

AGM 2024 questions / issues / suggestions

These are my questions based on my own experiences during the year, plus the content of discussions I have joined throughout the year on the old LCR Facebook group, current LCR website functionality & other processes which I feel would be useful to the wider membership if addressed. None are show-stoppers, but some change would be good for all concerned I think.

For the ‘new’ website :-

1. Firm up & publicise the launch dates for the members, to keep us informed.
2. Establish a paid responsive support / maintenance contract, as the worst thing to have is a website that is
unresponsive, not working or just out of date, as people just won’t bother to use it.
3. Canvas opinion of members to see what they would like in terms of new functionality, as we haven't been asked as far
as I know.
4. Fix or remove the functionality of the old one that doesn't work - QB archives, Expert technical advice, News.
5. Add a new section for AGM minutes & annual accounts summary, also an archive would be good.
6. Add a regalia shop where we can buy products.
7. Add a 'current market values' matrix - would be a nice to have.
8. Publish clear rules of engagement for the forum. Then agree & add a grievance process for all involved, which states
the rules for dealing with content that is deemed unacceptable to the committee and details the way it should be
handled in terms of warnings & bans. That way we avoid a repeat of the debacle we had in the Summer with Eloise.

Accounts show cash on hand is around £30k – are there any plans for it , apart from the new website costs? I suggested creating repo copies of the service books as we have for the driver’s handbooks a while ago, this would be useful. Also, would the club be interested in funding a small stand at the NEC show with all expenses paid for transport & accommodation, as it costs about £1000 per car/owner to attend the event I have been told ?

Obviously you’ve stated that the questions will be prioritised as time is limited within the AGM – what is the process for the remainder, are they held over for next year or are they addressed in the interim as time permits ? A status document on the forum would also be useful for tracking progress.
