Evening Keith,
Thanks for your questions!
Like Brian’s questions I can answer many of these right now if I may?
Any question can be asked throughout the year to the committee through the forum or by email and if we know the answer we will answer accordingly!
Question excluded from the AGM through time restraints can be debated at the next committee meeting.
Please see attached your questions and hopefully some satisfactory replies in red text!
Best regards
Andy
AGM 2024 questions / issues / suggestions
These are my questions based on my own experiences during the year, plus the content of discussions I have joined throughout the year on the old LCR Facebook group, current LCR website functionality & other processes which I feel would be useful to the wider membership if addressed. None are show-stoppers, but some change would be good for all concerned I think.
For the ‘new’ website :-
1. Firm up & publicise the launch dates for the members, to keep us informed.
A. We are due to have a dry run of things at the AGM and are hoping to go live thereafter so a date for launch should be forthcoming.
2. Establish a paid responsive support / maintenance contract, as the worst thing to have is a website that is unresponsive, not working or just out of date, as people just won’t bother to use it.
A. We have engaged professional website designers and a media company to take us forward and have thrown ourselves totally behind them. They will be monitoring 24/7 and we have had to purchase a great deal of new software to accommodate everything.
3. Canvas opinion of members to see what they would like in terms of new functionality, as we haven't been asked as far as I know.
A. We can canvass and no reason not to this time, but in the past the response uptake has been limited on all counts! The last was when we asked for opinions on making the QB digital and available online to those that would prefer and we received something in the region of 20 replies and most of them were from overseas.
4. Fix or remove the functionality of the old one that doesn't work - QB archives, Expert technical advice, News.
A. All subjects seem to have some interest, some I agree more than others and we can always add or remove subjects at will going forward.
5. Add a new section for AGM minutes & annual accounts summary, also an archive would be good.
A. The QB archive has already been uploaded and is ready to go on launch, part of the new software package we have had to purchase is to enable the forum archive to be transferred across as it is too large a format etc.
6. Add a regalia shop where we can buy products.
A. The regalia section has always been in the QB and this has already been spoken about to add to the new set up Don’t fancy modelling a T Shirt do you??
7. Add a 'current market values' matrix - would be a nice to have.
A. Markets are always up and down as you know so I can put this forward but how to monitor it and how regular it would need to be updated is key. We have a valuation Matrix maybe this can be incorporated.
8. Publish clear rules of engagement for the forum. Then agree & add a grievance process for all involved, which states the rules for dealing with content that is deemed unacceptable to the committee and details the way it should be handled in terms of warnings & bans. That way we avoid a repeat of the debacle we had in the Summer with Eloise.
A. Agree this is a good point and in hindsight should have been laid down initially. Not referring directly to you here but If I’m honest the demo graph of people that are our members and all being of a certain ilk I would not of thought there was a need to laydown specific rules on how to conduct oneself but perhaps I am a little naive.
Accounts show cash on hand is around £30k – are there any plans for it , apart from the new website costs? I suggested creating repo copies of the service books as we have for the driver’s handbooks a while ago, this would be useful. Also, would the club be interested in funding a small stand at the NEC show with all expenses paid for transport & accommodation, as it costs about £1000 per car/owner to attend the event I have been told ?
A. We are well aware that due to no QB printing and posting costs the coffers have swollen a little! Brian asked at the AGM he attended 2 years ago to pay for the NEC expenses. The committee reasoning for not subsidising this event is that only a small amount of members (those that display a car) would receive any benefit and the rest of the membership nothing. Hence why we have subsidised entry to the national day on several occasions so all that attend receive benefit! My reasoning to you for not contributing is the NEC show is in the midlands, if midlands members would be positive and run the show with their local cars instead of it always being from the London/South area who make the trek they could go home each night and sleep in their own bed for nothing!!
Making repo copies of service books depends on having A1 examples of the books to copy. These are not readily available and so would have to ask for perfect examples from members. These are then taken apart and photographed. (I lent my pre-airflow copy and Scott lent his Airflow. My copy was returned with the outside cover in two pieces I do not know the condition Scott had his returned).
Now we have a dilemma? What about Mk2’s? There are 3 versions of Mk2 handbook and a supplement (not including the service books) I have asked for 30 years both in the QB and on the forum if anyone has a supplement I could purchase, I have only had one reply (this wasn't to purchase one but someone saying they had one). If we were considering any of it I would say the Mk2 should be done first as Mk1’s were done previously!
Obviously you’ve stated that the questions will be prioritised as time is limited within the AGM – what is the process for the remainder, are they held over for next year or are they addressed in the interim as time permits ? A status document on the forum would also be useful for tracking progress.
Keith,
I will pose your questions for you and they will be debated but as some have already been addressed here it may not be necessary to revisit them. IE the Archive QB’s etc.
I hope I have sufficiently informed you as to where we currently are with things and of course the committee’s stance on others.
Keep up the good work!
Andy
