I got fed up with batteries that fitted in the original battery tray, so unbolted it and bought a magnum panel battery tray for a V6 mk3 capri. I then drilled the capri battery tray to match the original battery tray mounting holes in the boot floor and bolted it in as per the original tray. I then fitted the biggest modern battery that one fit in the capri battery tray. No more slow cranking issues and crap battery issues, Nothing original is modified and the original tray is safely in a cupboard and could be refitted, if I ever want to. Those exposed busbar batteries like the lincon aren't period for a 60s car anyway, more a 40s/50s period thing. The original battery for a mk1 cortina was a black plastic cased battery with fomoco on the side an blue plastic filler caps, just fit something that works.
