CPL2 camshaft valve timing

:? Does anyone have information on valve and ignition timing for original CPL2 cams? I have this data for Burton CPL2 cams but is it the same for the original Cosworth cams?

Thanks Keith, I have Miles Wilkins book but the info he gives is for L2’s. These are not the same as CPL2’s which have a profile between L2’s and Sprint cams.

Apologies I thought they were one & the same.

Thanks Jim,

Like I said, I have the data for the Burton CPL2’s but I can’t be certain it’s the same as for ORIGINAL Cosworth items from the 1960’s, as mine are. I’ve spoken to Burtons and they don’t seem able to confirm one way or another.

I’ve got feelers out in other directions so I’ll see what happens with them.

Try Steve Thomas at Dynatech as he's been building twincam motors for donkey's years twincamsteve@gmail.com

I'm a bit late responding to this but my head was converted from standard to Stage 1A by Vulcan Engineering (vulcan-engineering.co uk) back in 1992/3 which included fitting Cosworth CPL2 cams.
The chap I dealt with was Steve Curzon. I always found him most helpful. They resided then in Hanwell, West London, just a mile from my home which was very handy. I have since moved to East Sussex and a few years ago was in dire need of a cam cover gasket so I did a Google search for my closest Lotus dealer and Vulcan turned up, now situated round the back of Brands Hatch circuit, just 35 miles away. I drove over and to my surprise Steve remembered me (or maybe he rembered my car) either way we had a good old chat which reminded me of how much he know's about Lotus twin cam engines so if you still need info then it might be worth giving him a call. Come to think of it my car could do with a good run so if it would help I'd be happy to pay him a visit myself.

Thanks Dave,

I’ll give him a call. I got some info from Steve Thomas at Dynatech but it would be good to speak to your man and get his thoughts.

Cheers
Tom
