DSX 57C - MkI on ebay

Although this car is not known to the club i can vouch for it that it is an origonal Lotus
I can say this because it was owned by my friend Steve recently
The car at one time belonged to and was restored some 20 years ago by the rally driver Willie Crawford from Edinburgh who had his personel reg on it which was LSC 3 , Prior to that i do`nt know what the reg was
I have driven this car and can say it drives extremly well but whoever buys it will need to do some restoration work ,especially to the rear of the car but the engine has been rebuilt recently so will not need any work

I to know this car well. It was restored by Willie Crawford who owned Lothian Sports Cars in Edinburgh. Lothian sports cars were one of the first lotus Dealers in Scotland. ( hence the LSC number plate- Willie had LSC 1,2&3)

I remember as an 18 year old, owning a two door Mk1 (painted like a Lotus), stopping at Lothian Sports Cars to look at the car, often.

The car was rebuilt using all new panels. Under the back arches look like they are full of filler, but Willie chopped up the panels and smoothed them out to remove traps for curd.

I have came across the car many time in the last 25 years, the last being about two years ago when Gordon Boyd from Edinburgh owned it- he kept the original magnesium minilites that were on it and the 2.5 turn quick streering box ( Gordon rallies a Mk1 Lotus Cortina).

I have saw the car slowly go down hill since its original restoration. Its been one of those car that has never been able to keep an owner.

I recall Willie Crawford telling me about the green strip on the car when he had resorted it. It has the "wrong" green and had a gold pin strip around it. When I asked him he said that Colin Chapman had always wanted the green to be the same as the green in the badge and had wanted the pin strip but Ford wouldn't pay for it.

The car probably (does) need work, but I hope someone finally gives it a good home.
