Fan Belt

Hello Peter,

I get mine from QED. Ref: 112101. Labeled as Elan Dyn Belt.

Goodyear Ref: XO26EO3532.

If you like I could order a couple for you & give them to you on the 4th?

I had a lot of hassel with this , but the correct one for a twincam with a dyno is a Gates 6273. Most decent motor factors sell them for a about a fiver.

Maybe worth bringing your old one with you Peter? just to be sure.

If mine isn't correct we should be able to get it sorted for you before you go back.

Hi Peter,

Your bracket is the same as mine (dynamo) & your belt looks as if it could be a little shorter than mine.

I would think that quite a few cars have gone over to alternators through the years keeping the same bracket? There there are also many cars with non standard brackets & pulleys so I think, these days, it's a question of what ever fits the car in question.

Bring yours with you & we'll compere it with the ones we bring along to the meet.

Also, does anyone know why some belts have 'teeth' (for want of a better word). Original ones didn't have them?

Looking forward to seeing you on the 4th.

Dave B

Thanks Tommy. That's most helpful. I will prevail on one of my UK friends to buy the appropriate one for me but I have put the old one in my bag for safety.

Let me know if you end up stuck for one Peter, I am sure I could spare one for you. I am on my 2nd fan belt in 17 years of ownership, so 4 spares might be too many.

This one makes the generater sit to close to the block and I have an issue with the dipstick....
No doubt we will discuss this next week. Its in my pocket.

When you go through customs at Heathrow you will have to go through the red gate and declare "I love Lotus Cortinas" with a fan belt in one pocket and a radiator in your bag, most people bring fags and booze.
Ps I smoke Embase or bensen &hedges
