hand brake cable

does anyone know if there's a difference between rhd and lhd hand brake cables?, ordered mine from the cortina club and it seems to bee about 4 inches to short, any ideas?

Handbrake cables are a nightmare - I always measure them & match them up by stretching them out on the garage floor as you can't rely on the books as parts are swapped over time. It's all very hit & miss.

You would imagine LHD & RHD cables to be different as they share the same axle but placement on the dash is different.

If you still have your old one I have a NOS one if you want me to compare it using pics.

Found the old cable today and it is 3" longer than the new one, stupid me didn't think to actually measure it, I will tomorrow and give you the measurement and maybe rhd and lhd are different. thanks

new cable part #B79 measures 119 1/4' and the old cable is 122 1/4', got the new cable from the mk1 cortina owners club, anyone else have this problem?

Is your car a RHD or LHD Aeroflow / pre-aeroflow?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the cables change when manual adjust brakes changed to auto adjust brakes, not pre-aeroflow to aeroflow.

I don't know about that but the one I ordered was for auto adjust brakes
