Morning all.

Talking yesterday (Friday) to fellow members 'Neilsjuke' & 'oldracer.......' about the possibility of forming a new pub meet for Kentish folk. If anyone in that part of the world is interested maybe they would reply to this post & we could see about selecting a day & venue that suits everyone.

While we're on the subject I wonder how many active monthly meets we have around the country?

We have a fortnighly meet at Battlesbridge (Essex - where else?) where Colin (HLO) , Phil (FFA) & I (GBP) normally attend.

Is this back at the barge now then Keith. ?

Hello Neil.

A Sussex/Kent border meet would be good but I suppose it depends on the locations of interested Kent members.

As it stands at the moment a central point for those who've replied would be around Sissinghurst. I'd like to meet up with some of you 'red necks' so would be happy to do the extra miles to get there but if there are some applications from East Kent that would possibly be a little to far for them? Having said that I do (with Geoff Letts, Steve Booker & recently Mervyn Aldridge) go over to Windsor to meet up with the West London lads (& Lassies) so anythings possible.

How do you all feel about starting with the Sissinghurst area & see how it evolves?

Dave B.

Ok, so we have we have five people (H Cortina, Old racer, Neilsjuke, L2 Man & myself for a new Kent/Sussex border pub meet. Mervyn (Old racer) & myself plan to check out pubs around Sissinghurst this coming Thursday. We'll then post info on here & see what you all think. Anyone who wants to join us would be very welcome.

Hopefully we can find a suitable venue, hold an inaugural meeting & get things started. Then publicize it in the next QB for members who don't visit the forum & see what happens from there.

Hi Dave,
Good Luck, hope it all works out and the good people of Kent and Sussex get to enjoy the company and their cars.

Healeydavid, where are you based? We'll try & make it an equal distance for all.

Hi Dave I am in Bexley but it seems a bit unfair to make the majority travel further just for me. See how you get on finding a suitable pub and if its sissinghurst then so be it.

If you look at a map Pembury would be equal For Brendan David and Mervln but would only just get the engine warm for me

Mervyn (old racer) & myself went pub hunting yesterday around Pembury & found two pubs that we thought would be good for a meet.

The first is The Star (TN12 7JR), a fairly large pub, in the village of Matfield which is just over a mile off the A21 on the B2160 heading towards Paddock Wood. It's a good size pub with a fair size car park & grass area with tables (thinking ahead to summer). Nice atmosphere so could suit us well.

The second is The Halfway House which is just outside the village of Brenchley (TN12 7AX) about a mile & a half from the Star. This is a very traditional type of pub in a rural area. Smaller than the Star but boasts a large unmade car park & a good grassed area with tables, next to the car park.

I've checked milages from Matfield which are: Ashford 27 miles. St Leonards 23 miles. Yalding 7 miles, Maidstone 14 miles. Bexley 30 miles.

If everyone could let us have their thoughts then maybe we can arrange to meet at one of the venues & decide on a date for regular meetings.

Over & out.
