Hi All,

I bought some engine parts this week and I have the following bare engine block for sale as it is surplus to requirements:

Block date code: 7A13 (1967 Jan 13th)

Block number: 3020E6015 (the original first 4 number have been ground off and re-stamped with: 3020 which I believe correct/ what Lotus done at the time)

Engine number: LP8162LBA

Bell housing end stamped with: LB & PP

Bores: +30 & will only require a very light hone due to storage (not had liners fitted & walls do seem very thick)

Caps: all main caps matching and correct for period

This is a genuine Lotus picked block without the L cast on it which I believe to be correct for the period, so I would suspect it was fitted to an early MK2 L/C, Elan, Europa etc.

Overall I would described it as a very good block and with a light hone & a repaint it would be ready to use to rebuild a worn or incorrect block you have fitted in your car.

For any further questions or pictures please do not hesitate to contact me via PM

I am based in central Scotland but I can put it on a pallet if you organise your own courier

Just a quick update to say the block has been inspected by a local engine builder/ twincam specialist & he confirmed that is a very good block & I have arranged for the bore honing to be done so the block is ready to build/use.
I have had a few people asking what price I am after for it, and after having it inspected & the bores honed I would need a minimum of £400.00 for it which I think is a very fair price.

That is how the block in mine is, had the start of the numbers ground off and stamped. Sounds like the same code. My car is one of the first made
