Hi, just finished a total rebuild on a MK2 Lotus Cortina, one of the last on the J reg, the car can be seen on our gallery pictures, right where do we start, the car was stripped down to a bare shell, blasted, and then every rotten panel removed and replaced with all new NOS panels starting from the front. It has had a new front panel, slam panel, new head light panels, new radiator panel, pair of front wings, near side inner wing, pair of mint doors, new inner and outer sills, new boot floor, new rear quarters, new back panel, new battery panel, new wheel well, new lower rear valance, new A posts and new hinge posts. The shell was then painted in top quality ICI base coat and lacquer to give it the ultimate deep shine, the car was then totally rebuilt with all shot blasted and power coated parts. Once partly rebuilt, it was then took to Aldridge trimmers to have a complete brand new interior consisting of new roof lining, new sun visors, new door cards and rear cards, new carpet, seats recovered, new rear seat divider, new rear shelf, new parcel shelf, new seat covers, the rest of the interior was then also detailed, even down to the heater box been stripped down and re-powder coated, with every minute detail been polished or plated, even all the plastics on the dash have been re-chromed, and all new rubbers. Every nut and bolt used on this car has been re-plated or replaced. Sits on refurbished lotus steels. A short list of other new parts includes, all new break pipes, new NOS servo, new clutch pipe, new break, and clutch master cylinders, new clutch slave cylinder, new hand break cable, new washer bottle, new stainless steal exhaust new, new wheel cylinders, new track control arms, new inner and outer steering arms, all new bushes, new servo pipe, new regulator box, new coil, new solonoid, new top mounts, new fuel pipes, new water and heater pipes, new badges, all new chrome including bumpers, door handles and rear trims, new shocks, new boot carpet, new spare wheel cover, the list goes on and on. The engine runs strong with lots of new parts including new carbs. This car has not even done 1 mile, just finished now and getting ready for MOT and rolling road tuning. Self explained on how much money and man hours has gone into this car, paint job alone was 5K. This car is truly an outstanding example of these beautiful cars, and i would defiantly say it is one of the best in the country. Known history from the 80s and has never been re-shelled. Please note i have seen alot of cars recently go for around about the 20k mark and alot of them are what i would class as substandard, do not confuse this with one of those cars as this car is immaculate and concourse, also body coloured underneath. The car speaks for itself. Photos on the way, will be listed on ebay sunday night but would rather see it go to a fellow club member. So anybody interested give me a call.
£24995 firm. I will put this car in the top 5 in the country.

P.s
Air box is not on at the minuet but can be supplied with full air box.

I won £10.00 on the lottery last week, will you take that as a deposit? Rest to follow from my next winnings.

This is a seriously high quality resto' and i'm sure it will go to a good home.

Why ebay? - surely you will attract better offers on car and classic website. That's where mine would go.

For any prospective buyers we do have KEC on the register, with a previous owner going back to 1993.

Chris - If you've got a number of other cars why don't you bring one along to the National Day in August - there's still plenty of space available and it's free entry! We could do with a few more Mk2's as well

Simon

The car looks very nice,is there a photographic record of all the resto work for the propective buyer ?,as i feel this would help you achive your asking price.

does this question even need answering does a cowboy know how to tie up his horse

To be honest ,i was just trying to help you with your sale, and it maybe a way to get yourselves a good name in the Lotus resto circles by showing some pics of your metal work skills, welding ect,and showing the amount of work you have put in. another reason was from one Lotus enthusiast to another.
"Does this question even need answering", maybe,.... but then,i dont think it should have had to have been asked. :?:

***I've edited this thread to get it back on track as a "for sale" ad ***

Steve,

You have taken out 2 pages :( I was enjoying this
Were you asked to take it out ?

No Rob , I was not asked to take it out , but it was drifting way off track from being a For Sale ad.
We have other forum sections to use for the banter.
