New Loom

Im just about to order a loom and with help from a few members already on how to spec it correctly,

ive just seen the option on autosparks site wether i need airflow or pre...

now mines an airflow but has the pre airflow set up engine bay..with horns on the inner wing..

so im thinking I just order airflow underdash and pre- airflow looms, so has the wires in correct place, and with alternator conversion as im upgrading

has anyone had to do this?

cheers

Yes Wayne, mine was an Autosparks loom with alternator option but came with wiring for horns which stopped by the servo, so I just ran extenders.

Hi Wayne,
No mate, it's not going to be as easy as that.
Preaeroflow cars have the regulator box (RB340) under the dash, whereas, the aeroflow cars have it on the N/S inner wing.
Order aeroflow wiring looms all round and you should be ok.
And, as Colin mentioned, send them the bulkhead connectors.

Great thanks.. and yup ive been cleaning the plugs up today as ive heard they just drill them clean and run the wires straight through and bullet plugs inside under the dash

pics before a cleanup.. they are ok for 45 years old

Hi guys,

So I'm just sitting here tinkering and comparing the new loom from Autosparks one with the Alternator conversion, and I'm a little confused as to how the headlights and sidelights are incorporated into it?

down the N/S engine bay loom the wire ends with 3 brown wires and a loop clamp end.. quite long and guessing it might go down the inner wing and along the slam panel and wrap around to somewhere..but i can't work out where.. this wire also links in with the other three brown wires with the black box as the pic shows, presumably for the now alternator, half way along that length there is 2 bullet plugs which look to be the sidelight unit.. red and green.

Now the O/S is short and has 2 wires for the solenoid, 1 for the coil and at the end of that section of loom three bullet plugs, guessing for the headlight..

now I can't remember if there was a joining link wire from one sidelight to the other and the same for the headlights? explaining why theres only one set and if so this hasn't come with the new loom and needs making up, which seems odd :/

has anyone any thoughts please? or if you have had a loom is this the case

thanks

Wayne - pop round & take a look at mine as it's the same loom.

The single lighting wires are fed to a block by the bonnet catch & the light units just slave off that block.

Hi Keith

Thanks Il definitely take you up on that offer….

I was just racking my brain.. then I found the pic of the connector plug under the slam panel in the parts list book.. 110% never had this on my motor, as I remember lots of yellow crimped wires instead lol so I think that the connector block has long gone..

so I now need to search for one of them, or a new equivalent. I'm not the best at electrics but the lighting at the front has confused me a little…as to the power source.. so lots of pics to be taken of the police car lol

cheers

When working on electrical side of car I would recommend using a in line fuse. Disconnect the earth to battery and put between I use a 8amp resettable for most things plus a 25amp for higher loads.
ETA - 1170-01- CIRCUIT BREAKER 10amp would be fine .

I've probably got a spare block in my pile of bits. Buzz when you want to pop in. :)
