New Sapre engine now finished

I have now got the spare engine back and ready in the event of a failure on either of my cars, thought you might like to see it and the brief spec.

This is a fully reconditioned Lotus Twin Cam engine, the Cylinder Head which has been rebuilt to rally specification for power and torque, by Twin Cam recognised engine builder Charlie Mahony of CTM. Consequently the head has been chemically cleaned and pressure tested.  It has been fitted with bronze guides and bronze tappet sleeves, three-angled seats and fitted with new cam bearings, valve springs, valves etc etc.  The cam shafts have been set up and fitted with Piper 8FY Cams giving the valves a 385 lift and valve timing of 110 inlets and 115 outlets and has been fully gas flowed and ported for 45's.  The cost of reconditioning this head was in excess of £mucho including the supply of parts.  This cylinder head with the new 1701 bottom end should produce up to 150 bhp.  This head has been reconditioned and fettled to a very high standard, no expense spared and any repairs that have been deemed to be required have been undertaken.

Thanks very much to my brother Rod who has kept me in engines for 35 years, with no blow ups!

No zloty, anyway Keith thought you were still pre-metrication!

Thinking of getting some glass sheet cut, mount on the cam cover
And then have in the lounge as a coffee table!
Much nicer than one of those DFV block ones.

As I have 3 front covers rebuilt for you get the engines built and you can use the four as table legs. or build a 4 twink tractor and go tractor pulling .

Hi All,

I first went to the Motor show in 1969 with my Dad.
The Range Rover was the big new car being displayed.
They had the DFV coffee tables and wine racks for sale I thought they were fantastic especially with 8 bottles of Moet Champayne protruding out of them.
They came complete with a plaque on the block stating what GP race they had been in and who drove it. I asked my Dad if we could have one he said we would never get it on the train! I took him at his word of course as I never knew that neither would anyone else as they would have to be delivered!
We looked at several as there must have been about 20 at different stands over the whole venue. I remember looking at Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and Jack Brabham ones and when I said I wanted the Jim Clark one he said "why would I want that one as he was dead better to go for the Jackie Stewart one as it would be worth more as he was still around"!
The were all priced at £50 to my Dad 2 months wages to me 2 years worth of pocket money!
