Not a Lotus but......

Cortina gas pedal....now that's the answer to all those recall's!

Sorry, but as you can imagine I've been looking for every chance to have a laugh at this. I was actually sent a memo, reminding everyone to not do anything 'underhanded' during the current situation. I certainly did'nt recommend that Honda dealers should be buying up any Prius's with heavy frontal damage and parking them ouside the dealership.

Cheers
P.S I should'nt laugh the only car I've ever had a stuck throttle pedal was my own LC!

Sorry I did'nt mean to hijack this thread to have a cheap dig at Toyota.
Good luck to everyone who works at/with Toyota.

That engine install looks very neat.

I'll bring the thread back round too cortina's with a story....
Not long after I got my LC I was picking a girl up for a date from her parents house (This is back awhile and I was only a few years older!). Anyway after some pleasantries and promises of bringing her back safely and at a respectable time. We jump in Foxy and would you believe it the throttle jam's wide open.. just as I'm pulling off the drive! Luckily the brake's were working well that year and I shut off the ignition and start investigating. After a quick look under the bonnet it appears one of the carb's inspection covers has come off and jammed between the cable where it meets the spring and the bracket. So we are back on the road before her parents come out.

Probably the most worrying thing is that I can't remember anything else about the evening, did'nt see her again, but...still got the car. :D

I see clearly now Louis. My guess is just turn off the key.

On modern cars too much runs off the engine, power steering brakes etc, put the car into neutral and coast to a safe stop, yes the engine will scream but all cars now have rev limiters built in so no harm done.

Got to ask Louis, was that the same girl who turned up as the one armed hitch hiker. (that'll test those newer to the forum)

 He He, I've long since given up trying to impress a girl with my LC, its also managed to somehow mark legs/dresses with oily marks on two seperate occasions!
I think my car dos'ent like my taste in ladies?

Hi Louis,
I see you are wishing all employees at Toyota well and, now after the Prius episode their will be 2 employees less I presume, surely the Chairman of Toyota and Honda will have to do the most Honourable thing and commit Hari Kari!

I really don't mean to rub salt in the wounds...but my gosh did anyone see some of the Toyota interviews on breakfast television today! They seriously need to sort there PR out, and also not get somone non-technical to answer technical questions.
