Petrol Tank Help

I recently bought a new sender and retaining ring as it was missing from the tank that came with my car. However when I came to fit it, the tank had a different fitting. Is this type of hole usual for a MK1 sender unit

My sender with its retaining ring would fit to you tank. I suspect someone has modified my tank to fit another sender.
What I need is a scrap tank so I can remove the ring that's spot welded and put it on my tank

Pre aeroflow and aeroflow standard mk1 cortinas use different fuel tanks as the senders and their mountings are different. All mk1 lotus cortinas, including aeroflow models, use the pre aeroflow type tank and sender unit.
