Despite my comment on an early thread regarding the quauility of the MK1 owners club panels, I bought a pair of strut top stregthening rings from them, because they are unavailable else where. These are thinner steel than I was expecting. Does anyone know what thicknes the originals ones are please

Do you mean mk1 owners club part no C67, Under-wing support rings?
I believe they are available from Alan Henderson Racing (who builds mk1 race cars), see
