Wiper motor wiring.

I have just been cleaning up and testing a few spare wiper motors that I have and am a bit puzzled by one of the green wires in the motor loom. One green wire is the live feed to the motor, the red wire is the earth from the on/off switch to the other side of the motor, and the black wire is the park earth feed back to the switch from a slip ring in the gearbox. There is also another green wire which goes from the live feed to a different part of the slip ring in the gearbox, does anyone know what is its purpose please as it is not shown in any of the wiring loom diagrams that I have?

Thanks for the diagram but it is for a two speed motor where the spares I have are all single speed for the Mk1. Item 8 is a 'limit switch' and is present in the single speed also. The diagram shows two wires going to it where the single speed only has one wire but probably goes to the same contact in the gearbox, so I am still mystified.

Hi
Green = supply goes to white ignition supply in loom also supply to heater motor from memory via ignition switch
Black to earth will make the motor park
Red to earth to make it run. via dash switch if air flow.

Hi Neil, I fully understand the basic wiring but its the purpose of the second green wire that goes to the gearbox/slip ring area that I am trying to understand and that has got Keith stumped as well. Originally I thought it was something to do with the wiper 'park' position and couldn't work out how a 'live' ignition feed could somehow provide an earth back to the on/off switch. Having stripped the motor down, I realized that the earth came through the internal slip ring from the external connection on the motor and couldn't work out what this second green wire did, and it is not shown on any wiring diagrams that I have.
