Hi all yet again,

What a way to spend your time in the half term holiday. The bonus of teaching Motor Vehicle Body Repairs and IT in a college is you get to look for these cars in your holiday:

I wonder who will try to triple their money with this, that’s if it’s a genuine car? Sit back and wait, said the spider to the fly!!!! I may even have a go myself? As at 28-05-08 02.48pm afternoon.

Would need to have a look to make sure if its genuine or not. But have spoke to the fella selling the car and he's after £15k for the car. Seems to be loads of bits missing though. All the bits that seem to make serious money on ebay at the moment. I do still fancy the car, especially if the shell is as good as i've been told it is. Still a full resto though.

Wrong dash, wrong cam cover,(possibly mk 2 engine),wrong steering wheel. If its rust free, the chassis no. will still be stamped where it should be.

Hi again,

Personally I think this chap has got 2 chances of getting what he is asking for this car they are the following; “A dogs chance and No chance” whichever come first. I think I’ll have my money on the dog! All we can do is wait and see?

has anyone seen the imported "lotus" cortina on ebay?
I have seen the car some time ago it was as follows
Persil white not ermine
Alpina green not sherwood
boot mat type carpeting inside the car
boot mat is green but closer to boot mat material than what should have been "carpet" inside the car!
New head lining in the wrong material
Door panels are stiched not welded lines as ford made them
Seem to remember it only had the front seats covered (in the wrong material, what again)!
I'm reasonably sure it's a gt not a lotus shell, but he did say the car had a lotus book with it.
But it is a very good shell
So what's a solid shell and a book worth these days?
It has almost all of the proper lotus parts missing, can't think why.
There was no gauges, dash, steering wheel, gear knob, remote gear change, air box/trunking/filter assembly.
There now appears to be a remote fitted (bought it?)

For anyone considering buying this car be aware that the spares in the boot ARE rather interesting
5 TWIN CAM heads, one of which IS new, yes you did read it right Most of the heads have NOT been stripped of cams, pulleys, etc. They are as removed. There was a number of cam covers 3 early and one late.
There is also quite a lot of alpine renault parts inside the car as well. Yes the $!¬!+ off a shovel version
I saw the car last year soon after it was brought into the country! When I saw the car it was spray shop dusty if you get my drift. Very few true lotus parts but it obviously has some connection with an original lotus cortina at some time in its life, parked next to it in the same shed? ? ?
The other cars up his yard have to be seen to be believed, one's a "buick" (i think) about as big as a small house. Must be 1950's, seats are like armchairs.
The shells the best i've seen in many a year. If it didn't have the wrong white and green paint on it and was still in primer you could possibly pass it off as a NEW SHELL! It IS that good!
There was also an ORIGINAL 3 core rad inside the car, which may be the one as fitted in the photo's? OR he may have sold that along with all the other goodies.
If I can remember my Latin from school "Caveat et emptor" very much a case of BUYER BEWARE! !
I wouldn't have said the car could start let alone run with the condition of the carbs. If the engine has been re-built i'd take it with a pinch of salt bearing in mind the percentage of wrong parts that are fitted to the rest of the car.
This WAS as I saw it over a year ago, it may have changed since.
So how will it all end? Didn't make the reserve? Top bidder, (more money than sense) gets second chance? Compleat RE-negotiation in the yard? £ changes hands? Load it on the trailer. Turns up at a show next year with the paint so wet the flys stick to it like a fresh fly paper?

PS he told me he'd been offered £12,000 for it last year! Must have taken the guys arm off for an offer like that? So why is it for sale now? Did he have to buy it back when the new owners cat/granny/goldfish died and it had to be re-sold due to "circumstances"!
IS that the most expensive shell and book to date?
PPS be aware there are another hand-full of books circulating at the moment from one of our recently deceased. One has some history Vic Elfords name has been mentioned? ALL are well into 3 figures, (a third of a way to 4, if you get my drift) unless they are well healed it'll probably be next year before they show up at a "show near you"
