Air temperature gauge

I have been given a bag full of Cortina gauges including this one which I have not seen before. I wondered if anyone can provide any information regarding this gauage. What it was fitted to or is it just an accessory? Thanks.

It's not Cortina specific just a generic outsdie ambient air temperature gauge - the core just picks up the temp from under the front & send it back to the dash - these were fashionable in the '60s & '70s when Smiths were pushing the aircraft cockpit style dashboard. :roll:

i remember my dads mate had a s2 1600e with a s1 dash top so he had 10 gauges on his dash! back in the 70s though so i suppose it was cool. he also had 6 spot lights and probably a fluffy dice! :lol:
