Ball joints done

Hi All
Any one know where can I get a pair of gaiters for the ball joints as mine have split with time and the kits I have (as spears) have gone hard again with age.
Any help would be good.
Thank you
Geoff

This guy sells all different sizes, measure yours and see if he has them.

Hi Brian,
Thank you for the information. Today I did the work. But I noticed one ball joint fitting very stiff. So I checked the both ball joints. The shape is different!

Your and original ball joint looks like which one?
In the mean time, I wonder why Lotus straight arms on Ford Cortina MK1 work shop manual?
Kind regards,
Hiro :D

Hi Brian/Geoff
Re Gaitors :-
Brian thank you for the information have looked on ebay but they do not appear to be the correct size unfortunately.
Geoff if you can give me the name in Australia that would be of help as my son lives over there and could get them for me. Thank you.

Regards Geoff

Hi Brian, Thank you for the pics. Now I understand which one is correct. I think yours look more like my marked O (Short harf ball version). However my both ball joints came from original parts box. The standard cortina curved arms with grease nipple? Hiro :D

Yes early cars had the same ball joints as the lotus but with curved arms. Here is a pair on ebay.

Hello Hiro and Geoff
Please see contact/supplier in Australia for your drag link bushings and ball joint gaiters [we call them ''dust boots''] they may be able to supply and I believe overseas shipping is OK.
I hope this helps
Regards Geoff

This is the relevant page with the price list although prices are not current.
You would need to ask.
Cheers Geoff

My ball joints are now done
The dramas were all solved
I required 2 steering arms and Team deVille supplied them along with the ball joint kits.
But as mentioned earlier the interference fit of the lock ring inside the steering arm proved to be
a real problem.
I went back to the supplier and Paul Richards was very understanding when I told him that I had
a .040'' difference. which is way too much, so I was offered a refund or 2 replacement rings.
I accepted his offer of a refund.
I kept the rings and ''resized'' them to a tolerance of .002'' at a local engineering shop.
Pressed them in and we were good to go.
Please see attached pictures.
Cheers Geoff

Hi Brian and Geoff,
Many thanks for the information.
I got many ball joints from various resources.
Because I have ordered a pair of original ball joints. But it’s looks different the ball joints and spring seats, even a pair!
Also some ball joints is not new!
Finally I used NOS pair of ball joints supplied by LCSC many years ago.
Now I assembled the ball joints to original straight arms and original struts.
It was long way!
