caliper mounting

A bit confused?, I've seen calipers mounted both towards the front and towards the rear on a late '66 LHD car, before I finish bolting everything up any thoughts?, if I go by the stamping on the backing plates the calipers would be in the rear. thanks

66 car should have the front mounted calipers, as this came in with the fitment of P16 calipers in about Oct 65. It is quite possible to fit them either way though, by swapping the front struts side for side, as they are interchangeable.

I thought that front was correct but they probably never re stamped the backing plates L & R. thanks
