i am a new member looking for a restoration mk 1 lotus project.
would not even mind a re-shell, or a gt built up lotus.
not looking for a mint/clean car, but big work not objected to.

What about this GT rolling shell that was on ebay and didn't sell (Based in Essex):

You'd still have money to spare after you dropped a twin cam in complared with the LC log book you were bidding on.

Also, the vendor is on this forum (Rob/Batty) so he is known to some of us - he's not dodgy.

we all know "batty" he rang on my vehicle, and never turned up !
we all know that its the lotus V5 thats worth money...as how many clone/reshells are about.
the majority of lotus cortinas, etc rusted away years ago, and it was easier to rebuild with better shell.
i should think 50% of mk1, or 2's are rebodied.
would not mind a rebodied car with the correct V5
find me one...have the money !

i know a lot of rebodied lotus cars, even club cars, and i would buy one, as long as it started off life somewhere as a "lotus" cortina.
my dad had these years ago,when they were two a penny, and he sold one for £250 35/years ago.
what wrong with a rebodied car, or would you have rather seen the car get scrapped,and v5 thrown away.
i should think some of the famous race/rally mk 1's may have had a shell change.
i had the most rotten shelby gt500 mustang you had ever seen,and still 20k as it was,but it needed a shell change, and it went abroad, even though mates thought it was scrap....these rare carshave to be saved,or brought back to life again.
anyway...has anyone found me a lotus mk 1 to buy yet !
would have bought the one off ebay,if he had not taken off sale...had 7k for it.

It is the V5 that is worth the money chaps so lets all scrap our cars and store the paper work in a safe place. At least that way we could make room in our sheds for a nice reasonably priced people mover or a Toyota Prius. :shock:

Oh wait a minute, In NZ there is no such thing as a V5 so have I wasted a truckload of money buying a car that does not exist?

And by the way 427, a simple please would not go a-miss.
