Nearside front wing badge

Before I commit the drill to the new wing - does anyone have any definitive positioning details?

I gussed last time and it never sat right...

Hi Keith,
Why didn't you drill the holes before the paint went on?
If I were in your position now, I'd chop the pins off the badge and stick it on with double sided tape.
You can then move it around the wing as much as you like. One week on the bonnet, next week on the roof!!

I agree with Scott, double sided tape is the way to go. That's how I fitted mine, as I didn't want to recreate the original ford rust trap of those mounting holes.

Pins or sticky tape,- how does he find the right position?
I would say look at an original (there was one very close to yours for quite a few months!!) and try and take some measurements from some reference points, or make a template.

Just a thought.

This might be your best bet. There can't be too many Mk1's with original front wings. It also tells you where the green stripe should stop.

If the attachment doesn't work I'll try again.

I give up!

It's the 'How can a man have a wife and family, and a Lotus' add. if someone else has a copy perhaps they could post it.

I can measure mine but it wasn't based on a factory fitment - if it helps?White_Lotus_Cortina_PoliceCar_RF_3653.jpg

If you could keith, that would be helpful. Then if your measurements and the ones I've scaled off photos correspond I'll be happy.(not sure what I'll do if they don't but I'll worry about that if it happens)

I seem to remember placing my badge on a new front wing many many years ago & I noted that on the original wing the badge was not centered midway between the inner edge of the wheel arch & the back edge of the wing but from the point where the curve of the arch ends & the back edge of the wing.

Hope that makes sense! If not I'll try again.

Mine's bolted on Pete. I don't think we had double sided sticky tape in those days.

Mine measures (roughly) 115mm/45mm so if you'r somewhere between the two of us you should look pretty good.

I would think so Pete. Thing is this, how many cars are there with their original front wings complete with badge in place. Not many is the answer so I would say look at all the old press pictures (there aren't many) & take it from there. It's one of those pieces of originality that is rapidly disappearing along with white paint behind the rear lights & black paint behind the grilles, really pisses me off.

Going to have a lie down now!

Thanks for all the dimensions. As suggested I choose a bit of an average from the dimensions supplied and my scaling from photos and ended up with 103/56
