I've been involved in correspondence with the DVLA over the model name of my 1963 Mark One on its V5C.
They insist the model is a Cortina De Luxe which technically a 74 chassis plate example started life as.
However my green log book states the model is a Lotus Cortina. Ford advertisements at the time called it one.
The DVLA say the only way they will change the model name is if I can produce Ford documentation with a specfic code for the Lotus Cortina. Not much hope of that 60 years later.
I am curious as to what model name members have on their V5Cs.

If it's a genuine car and log book it probably got changed during the change from manual records to Computer database as a bulk exercise by the DVLA. The data transcription staff would have had a stack of log books and VINs with a conversion list to a code so you could easily see how that would go wrong.

Flick down the list, find Z74 and come up with Cortina Deluxe.

See here they have put an engine number in with a generic 116E6015

Mine has Lotus Cortina.

Jonny, if you want to contact me via PM with your details, I am sure a letter from the LCR to the DVLA can rectify this.

I am pleased to report that after I made a formal complaint against the DVLA I have now received a new V5C with the car registered as a Ford Cortina MK1 Lotus. God they were hard work to deal with by email and phone.
